My channel is a musical scrapbook of some of my favorite repertoire that I have played as a church organist for the last 40 years. The organ is 3-manual, 30-rank Wicks/Hunt organ that has been enhanced with a Hauptwerk virtual organ system. Thanks for checking out my site. I hope you enjoy the music.

Jehan Alain was a French organist, composer, and soldier who died in World War II. Reason has reached its limit, faith alone can go further". This piec...

Brav . Nett gespielt. Kann man auch etwas interessanter ( auch in barocker Manier) aufpeppen.
Love the pacing in this rendition. People always seem to be in a rush for this piece like it’s Widor or something.
Glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for listening.
El maestro Salcedo de Guadalajara la interpreto y desde ahi quede facinado con esta obra músical.
Such beautiful piece and very beautifully performed ~ thank you so much!
Glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for listening.
I played that in college. His stops sound muddy.
When I was a choir boy, by this point an alto, under George Huddleston at Christ Church New Brunswick, NJ, probably 1973, Gerald Near came to visit a rehearsal as we were singing and recording his Christ Hath A Garden anthem on the traditional folk melody O Waly, Waly. Tonight, I was sightreading on the piano some service music by Near out of the Episcopal 1982 service book and got to thinking about Gerald Near and looked him up and was lead to this wonderful composition and video recording which brought tears of thankfulness and joy...
Thank-you for your moving comments. I am glad that you enjoyed the video of this beautiful piece as much as I enjoyed making it.
I first heard this in the 1970s on The Lutheran Hour once. Just discovered the title of it. Thanks!
You are welcome. Glad you enjoyed he video.

We used this piece as the processional for our wedding in 1971. A beautiful work, wonderfully done that also brings tears to my eyes. Thanks so much for sharing!!!
Glad you enjoyed the video and that it brought back such fond memories.
What a name...E Power Biggs..what's the E for, enormous? Lol
The "E" stands for Edward, but he did have enourmous talent.
@@GeoffOlson1039 Me encantaría estudiar el arreglo de Power Biggs. ¿Es fácil de conseguir? Hermosa su interpretación de la obra!
Beautiful recital of Faure's Pie Jesu; i have played this version, arranged by Noel Rawsthorne, at Catholic Mass, this morning, thank you, for your RUclips performance of this Piece
You are welcome. Glad you enjoyed the video.

You are welcome.
I used this as a recessional at my wedding.
I hope it brought back happy memories for you.
This piece was played at my wedding back on June 2, 1984. I had never heard Psalm 19 before, and when our organist gave it to us as a possibility I fell in love with it immediately. I still feel inspired, and tears come to my eyes every time I hear it.
Thank-you for your comment Bruce. I am glad that my video brought back happy memories of your wedding.
What a beautiful version of canon in D! Is it possible to have the sheet? Best of luck Geoff
Glad you enjoyed the video and this particular arrangement of the Canon. It was arranged and edited for organ by S. Drummond Wolff. You can obtain a copy from Concordia Publishing for eight dollars plus shipping. Type in "Canon in D" in the search bar for their web site.
@@GeoffOlson1039 thanks a lot Geoff. I am looking forward from hearing you playing again.
Geoff! About your age here, with a near-lifetime of organ playing behind me. I know your history (only from this video; no worries). Somebody needs to tell you: * "Salt of the earth," you. **May the rest of y/our Existence (cap 'E') go just like the final cadence in Langlais's "Chant de paix." Like that G major chord out of nowhere, in the kind of spacing that seemed to drive the purists around the bend Cheers, Mark (from podunk cowboy town in MOST rural NE Arizona)
Greetings Mark from one near-lifetime organist to another. Nice to hear that rural NE Arizona is getting quality organ music. Keep up the good work and glad you enjoyed my video.
Merveille ! 🤩😇😑
I love this as a hymn and RVW’s version. Thank you for recording it so well and posting here.
You are welcome. Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for listening.
Dang good playing, and for a Wicks organ, sound good. I love Buxtehude's organ music - a whole lot.
Glad you enjoyed the video. I also am a fan of Buxtehude's music.
I chose this as the commital piece at his funeral. Although the senior, wider family didn't understand the inference, it was chosen to relate to my father's behaviour toward my older sister and I. He have no clue really about the sensitivities of young children as I when six year old and my sister would have been 11. He had no concept of the difference between dealing withe adults as opposed to small children and young adutls. As he was away for 3 months at a time and only home for many be six weeks at best (thank heavens) as a result he had didn't understand the children behave to adults and that we were not one of his "crew" on board a ship to be disciplined for not getting something wirte or (as we refer to it today) not "performming", As a result my sister and I were treated like 25-35 year olds; shouted and sworn at if we didn't get things right or as he had "ordered". I chose it with the second element involved that now he was dead, sheep (sub-oridnates) could safely do what they needed and just subtly put back on track, and therefore "safey graze". Indeed the irony did indeed go over the heads of the older family, and only our older cousins (who had also been the brunt of his "flare ups") could see the point I was making, not the fact tht he woudl "rest in piece" but a reminder of the way he treated pre-teenage and young teenage children. So although I love the piece, and I agree in this case played a little too slowly, the subliminal memories behind it, not so fond as other people thought my sister and I were converying. 😌
I am sorry to hear about the challenging childhood that you and your sister had to endure. I can see why you chose this piece as the commital piece at your father's funeral. I hope you and your sister can find some peace now.
Dear Mr Olson it´s just beautiful!
Glad you enjoyed my video. Thanks for listening.
Beautiful !!!!!!
Glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for listening.
I am very happy I found this film. It is the most beautiful organ version of Canon in D I heard. This is big inspiration for me as novice organist. Thank you very much!
Glad you enjoyed my video and thanks for listening. Best wishes in your organ studies.
wow
I have always thought this one of the best arrangements of this tune. Beautifully played.
Glad you enjoyed it. This piece is a favorite of mine as well.
This is the very best arrangement of Wondrous Love 1:19 , and I made the mistake of letting someone borrow my copy, and I will never see it again, and now it’s out of print. Does anyone know where I can find a copy? Thank you.
A beautiful recording! Very well played! I like it very much! Thanks for uploading!
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for listening.
I'm not US and I don't hear this piece at weddings or such. But I still like to listen to it very much. And your interpretation was very good, IMO. Thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for listening.
Lovely. One of my favorite classical piece of music.
Glad I could do a video of one of your favorite pieces of classical music. Thanks for listening.
Dear Mr. Olson, thank you very much, I nearly cried by your interpretation, so there are just a few words left for me: you played beautifully and cracefully with deep feelings, you brought the organ to life! Best wishes from me for you and your loved ones! Yours sincerely, Frank from Offenburg, Germany
Thank-you for the very kind comments Frank. I'm glad to hear that my video was so meaningful to you. It's comments like yours that make performng worthwhile. Best wishes to you and your family.
I would love to learn how to play as beautifully as you Geoff! Watched a few of your other videos and wish you uploaded more! Out of curiosity, if I was to try and replicate your setup what is the core product?
Hello Johnathan. Glad you enjoyed my videos. I have about 200 videos recorded on You Tube at ruclips.net/user/GeoffOlson1039. My style of playing is based on lessons, listening to others, and experience. I have polished my style and gained feedback from 55 years as a church organist. Learn what you can from lessons and listening to others play, but in the end don't be afraid to develop your own style. I have heard a few nationally recognized organists with superb techique, but were boring to listen to. It is not how fast you play, but how well you communicate to the audience. I credit the quality of sound from the combination of a Hautpwerk virtual organ with 30 ranks of pipes. Hauptwerk vastly increases the options for stops and adds a warm tone and reverberation to the pipes. I find that the combination of Hauptwerk and pipes produces a better sound than either Hauptwerk or pipes by themselves. As to recording, you need quality microphones. I use two AT40 Audio-Technica mics. The sound is also enhanced by the 2-3 second reverberation in our sanctuary. Best wishes with your organ playing.
I allways enjoy your organ interpretations mr. Olson...
I am glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for listening.
Beautiful!
Thank you!
Beautiful expression of this marvelous piece. I’m learning the set of three and so appreciated your playing, particularly of this first one! I also was glad to see how you tackled the right hand in the first of those cascades! Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed the video. I hope you enjoy playing these three exceptional preludes as much as I have.
Oh, yes! 🎶

Nice sound and playing. Can you please recommend a good edition/publisher? All I see is a Dover; however, on IMSLP there is a Kalmus/Belwin-Mills #3314 which looks good. Thank you.
I am glad you enjoyed the video Mark. I used the Kalmus edition (K03314).
We have chosen this for my dads funeral in 2 weeks time as he enters into church it is a beautiful piece of music and sounds perfect played on the organ
I am glad that you enjoyed the video. I hope this piece will bring you comfort at your dad's funeral.
Thank you
That is beautifully played, thank you. To fully capture Virgil Fox you need many, many strings and that earlier Aeolian-Skinner voicing, but you come close and capture the feel of Fox's sound very nicely. You play a beautiful instrument, and do so with skill and finesse
Thanks for the comment and for listening. I am indeed blest with a beautiful instrument. I have always been a Virgil Fox fan and would like to think he would have approved of this video and the sound of the organ.
